Parting Insights from our Summer Intern

Friday, August 7th, 2009

nick2While my summer may be gone, I am pleased to report that I am still in one piece and leaving with significantly greater insight and experience than when I first began.

I have absolutely loved joining the Subudhi team for the summer.  Rather than taking part in an internship full of meaningless busy work, I was able to become a depended upon team member that carried out critical tasks on a daily basis.  Every day flew by with dizzying speed as there was never a dull moment in our office.

Having no prior experience in public relations, I greatly appreciated the opportunity that Joya provided to me by taking me under her wing.  Right from the beginning of my internship, I began to draft briefing sheets, research journalists and monitor for coverage using the various tools essential for any PR professional.  Never before have I had my written work critiqued by such stringent eyes, forcing me to brush off all the rust from my writing skills.  Staffing briefing calls with high-level executives, consultants, and nationally renowned journalists has been a rare treat that I may not be able to experience again for years to come.

By the last day, I felt that I grew into a more proficient writer, assertive speaker and effective team member.  I highly recommend any rising PR star to join the Subudhi team for a worthwhile experience.

On that note, I’m out the door for the last time…bon voyage.
