UNH-IOL/NIST Campaign a Success

Monday, August 17th, 2009

0a02d89Last month, SCG launched the US Government IPv6 (USGv6) Test Event, an interoperability test program, for the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL), the networking industry’s premier independent third-party proving ground for developing technologies, in collaboration with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

From a PR point of view, the university agreed that the project was a resounding success.  In a very short time frame, SCG executed a PR campaign that resulted in fourteen feature stories for the UNH-IOL in publications like Network World, InfoWorld, ComputerWorld, InfoWorld, TMCnet, Government Computer News, Nextgov, and SmartBrief. In addition, SCG secured a radio interview on FederalNewsRadio.com and a blog post on IT Business Edge.

SCG and the Richmond Ad Club

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

SCG had a wonderful time at the adclub2Richmond Ad Club’s July Happy Hour event at the Vault.  It was a great opportunity to mix and mingle with old friends and network with Richmond’s creative community.

Despite the name, the Richmond Ad Club Happy Hour events bring together individuals from a wide-variety of professional backgrounds.  Especially during these trying economic times, members can benefit from networking events like this, where they can socialize with other like-minded individuals.  It gives everyone a chance to share ideas, discuss the local economy and make lasting connections for the future.

In addition to the Ad Club events, our team tries to make it out to several different networking functions throughout Richmond.  You nevergrid_1_cover know who you’ll meet, and where a new idea may spring from!  Just last week, we attended the launch party at Savor for Richmond’s newest magazine, The Greater Richmond Grid. It was great to see so much local support for this new publication, which captures the diversity and cultural vibrancy of the area, with a special emphasis on social media.

Parting Insights from our Summer Intern

Friday, August 7th, 2009

nick2While my summer may be gone, I am pleased to report that I am still in one piece and leaving with significantly greater insight and experience than when I first began.

I have absolutely loved joining the Subudhi team for the summer.  Rather than taking part in an internship full of meaningless busy work, I was able to become a depended upon team member that carried out critical tasks on a daily basis.  Every day flew by with dizzying speed as there was never a dull moment in our office.

Having no prior experience in public relations, I greatly appreciated the opportunity that Joya provided to me by taking me under her wing.  Right from the beginning of my internship, I began to draft briefing sheets, research journalists and monitor for coverage using the various tools essential for any PR professional.  Never before have I had my written work critiqued by such stringent eyes, forcing me to brush off all the rust from my writing skills.  Staffing briefing calls with high-level executives, consultants, and nationally renowned journalists has been a rare treat that I may not be able to experience again for years to come.

By the last day, I felt that I grew into a more proficient writer, assertive speaker and effective team member.  I highly recommend any rising PR star to join the Subudhi team for a worthwhile experience.

On that note, I’m out the door for the last time…bon voyage.

SCG Goes to The New York Times

Monday, May 18th, 2009

SCG traveled to New York City for a briefing with client NTT America and The New York Times.  Shannon O’Neill, account executive for SCG, spent the day with NTT America executives and visited the NTT America headquarter office on Park Avenue.

Shannon said The New York Times building in Times Square was stunning. She was not only impressed with the architecture (especially the lobby garden), but also thrilled to have the opportunity to venture inside the offices of one of the largest metropolitan newspapers in the U.S.
