Fighting climate crisis one tree at a time, the Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation, based in Germany, launched its activities in the United States at the United Nations Forum on Forests. Subudhi Consulting Group (SCG) is pleased to report our pro-bono public relations services for Plant-for-the-Planet.

Plant-for-the-Planet is youth led initiative, active in 91 countries, with the goal of planting trees against climate crisis.  Founded by Felix Finkbeiner (13), from Germany, Plant-for-the-Planet has set the goal of having one million trees planted in every country by 2020.  By this time, they also hope to empower one million children as Ambassadors for Climate Justice, in about 20,000 Plant-for-the-Planet Academies.

In Germany, Plant-for-the-Planet has already met its goal, with 1.7 million trees planted.  On October 8, 2010, the Plant-for-the-Planet ad campaign, “Stop talking. Start planting,” was awarded the most efficient social international campaign by the communication agencies in Germany.  The award is called “Social Effie in Gold” (see ad with Felix and Gisele Bündchen, left).

Commencing Planet-for-the-Planet activities in the United States, Felix spoke at the Ninth Session of the United Nations Forum on Forests at the UN Headquarters in New York on February 2.  The only child invited to speak at the Forum, Felix’s speech was also a part of the activities celebrating the beginning of the International Year of Forests 2011.  Following his speech, Felix visited schools throughout the city to motivate students to join in the international youth movement for climate justice.

In order to increase recognition for Felix’s UN speech, increase global recognition of the foundation and empower children worldwide, Plant-for-the-Planet called on SCG to support the beginning of public relations activities in the United States.  SCG devised a plan that offered public relations support and media outreach to obtain coverage of and publicity for Felix’s speech.  This plan included creating custom media and blog lists, sourcing videographers and photographers willing to donate their services, and facilitating a presentation and workshop led by Felix at Middle School 328 in Harlem, NY.  For more information on Plant-for-the-Planet and notable news coverage please see the links below.

Less than 2% of existing IP addresses remain

NEW YORK, Feb. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — UBM TechWeb’s Light Reading (www.lightreading.com), the leading research-led media company serving the global communications marketplace, has announced the launch of the IPv6 2011: The Time Is Now! conference, which will take place on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Hilton New York in New York City. IPv6 2011: The Time Is Now! debuts at a time when telecom service providers and their enterprise customers are confronting the end of the IPv4 era and the transition to IPv6, with its opportunities and challenges.

“The timing of this event couldn’t be more critical,” explains Stan Hubbard, Senior Analyst for Heavy Reading and conference chairman. “With IPv4 addresses down to less than 2 percent, service providers who have been planning for this transition for almost a decade must implement their plans for dual-protocol strategies and for deployment of IPv6 in growth areas such as mobile networks.”

The IPv6 2011: The Time Is Now! conference will be moderated by Latif Ladid, president of the IPv6 Forum; Carol Wilson, chief editor of events for Light Reading; and Heavy Reading’s Hubbard. The conference will have wide-based support from various industry associations, including the IPv6 Forum, and be heavily promoted to the service provider community via the Light Reading Communications Network and the enterprise community via InformationWeek.

“It is imperative that content and service providers implement IPv6 as soon as possible to sustain the Internet growth and drive future innovation,” said Ladid. “The IPv6 2011: The Time is Now! conference will provide a platform for industry leaders to share their insights and first-hand experiences working with IPv6, paving the way for the future of communications during this critical juncture in time.”

As a demonstration of the timeliness of this conference, a press conference will be held by several leading global Internet groups regarding the status of available IPv4 address space on Thursday, at 9:30 a.m. EST at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami. Representatives from the Number Resource Organization (NRO), Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), Internet Society (ISOC) and the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) will join together to make a significant announcement and discuss the global transition to the next generation of Internet addresses. All interested community members are invited to view the webcast at: http://www.nro.net/news/icann-nro-live-stream.
