Subudhi Consulting Group (SCG) is excited to welcome Tumblr as a new neighbor. With headquarters in New York City, Tumblr recently opened up a secondary office at the Corrugated Box Building, here in Richmond, VA’s Manchester district. Attending Tumblr’s meet-up and press event on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Legend Brewing Company, SCG was able to meet the Tumblr folks, including company President John Maloney, and company founder David Karp.

Tumblr started in 2007 as a blogging site that allows users to effortlessly share content and communicate with one another. Users can post text, photos, quotes, links, music, and videos, from their browser, phone, desktop, email, which makes the site easy to access. Everything from colors to page theme can be customized to the user’s preferences. The company chose to add a Richmond office because their mobile app developers and community support team were already located in the area.

The Tumblr meet-up on January 13th saw a high turnout of local bloggers, and PR and advertising companies, a testament to Richmond’s thriving social media scene. By opening up a Richmond office, Tumblr positions Richmond as a key player in exploring new possibilities for communication, an important role considering that social media is the mode in which communication is beginning to manifest with increasing prevalence.

Subudhi Consulting Group (SCG) has partnered with UBM TechWeb’s Light Reading, the leading research-led media company serving the global communications marketplace, to produce the IPv6 2011: The Time Is Now! conference. The conference will take place on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Hilton New York in New York City. Serving as a platform for industry leaders to share their insights and first-hand experiences working with IPv6, the conference comes at a crucial juncture in the transition from IPv4 to IPv6.

“The timing of this event couldn’t be more critical,” explains Stan Hubbard, senior analyst for Heavy Reading and conference chairman. “With IPv4 addresses down to less than 2 percent, service providers who have been planning for this transition for almost a decade must implement their plans for dual-protocol strategies and for deployment of IPv6 in growth areas such as mobile networks.”

The conference will have wide-based support from various industry associations, including the IPv6 Forum, and will be heavily promoted to the service provider community via the Light Reading Communications Network and the enterprise community via InformationWeek. “It is imperative that content and service providers implement IPv6 as soon as possible to sustain Internet growth and drive future innovation,” said Joya Subudhi, SCG President, speaking to the significance of the IPv6 2011: The Time Is Now! conference.
